2D VIEW
The 2D View is used to visualize images and all objects that exist within image space. At the top is a toolbar that allows you to perform certain actions. An overview of the toolbar elements is given in the table below. Each action is explained in more detail in the sections below.

Interactions
You can interact with the 2D view in the following ways:
- Ctrl + scroll wheel: zoom in and out
- Ctrl + click and drag: pan the scene
Actions
Selection Mode
This is the default mode for the 2D view. When active, you can select objects to inspect their properties using the Object View or Propert Inspector.
Making Tools Sticky
When you complete an action with a tool, the view will reset to the default selection mode afterwards. For example, the view will switch back to object selection once you have placed a stain using a stain tool. When turing on sticky tools, you can make a tool sticky, so that it remains active. For example, by making the stain tool sticky, you can place multiple stains without having to re-active the tool

HemoVision offers a range of tools to analyze stains. To activate these tools, press the button in toolbar, which will open up a dialog in the top-left corner of the two view. There, you can choose between two main methods:
Statistical Shape Model
The statistical shape model analyzes stains automatically using a trained model. You have two placement methods:
- Click method: a single click inside a stain starts the automatic placement method. Tip: click inside the stain, towards the leading edge of the stain.
- Line method: click and drag to draw a line along the major axis of the stain you want to analyze. The line is used as initialization for the model.
Manual Ellipse
You can manually place ellipses to fit spatter stains and calculate their parameters. To place ellipses, you have three options:
- Point method: a single click inside a stain starts places an ellipse. Tip: click inside the stain, towards the leading edge of the stain.
- Line method: click and drag to draw a line along the major axis of the stain you want to analyze. The line is used as initialization for the ellipse
- Ellipse method: click and drag to start drawing the ellipse immediately. Moving your mouse will change the majox axis of the ellipse; by scrolling your mouse wheel while you are still dragging, you can change the minor axis of the ellipse.
Image Orientation Widget
The orientator widget visualizes the angle of the current image in 3D space. The orientator can be interpreted as watching the surface of the image from the side.
This information may be important when selecting a proper range of impact angles for impact angles.
For example, when you are working on a surface that is angled at 45 degrees, any spatter stain with an impact angle above 45 degrees was already travelling downward when impact said surface.

Exporting Your 2D Scene
You can export the current 2D scene as an image, including all objects that are visible. To do so, press the export button in the toolbar of the 2D view, and select a filename and location to store the image.
